2022 Nuncius Prize

Call for applications


We are pleased to announce the 2022 Nuncius Prize, which is supported by Brill Publishing. It will be awarded to the best original essay related to the material and visual history of science, technology and medicine in any period.

The prize is intended for those who are currently graduate and doctoral students, or have been awarded their PhD (or equivalent) within the past six years.

The opening date for entries is 00.01 (CET) on 15 September 2021. The closing date of the Prize is 23.59 (CET) on 30 April 2022. Authors should submit their manuscript via the Editorial Manager (EM) online submission system at: https://www.editorialmanager.com/nun/default.aspx

Essays must be:

- unpublished and not submitted to any other competition at the same time

- written in English

- no more than 9,000 words in length (including footnotes)

- referenced in accordance with Nuncius guidelines

The winner will receive a cash prize of €500 and the open-access publication in #Nuncius. Three honourable mentions (€100 of Brill book tokens each) will also be provided.

Non-winners may be invited to publish their work in Nuncius, if the judges of the essay award and the journal consider them to be suitable for publication.
