Speaker: Dr Erin Connelly, University of Warwick
Medieval manuscripts contain numerous remedies for the treatment of microbial infections, and these often involve complex preparations of medicinal plants and multiple ingredients. But how does the past inspire present research? This lecture will discuss the outputs and current research performed by the Ancientbiotics collaboration, a multi-institutional, international, and interdisciplinary project exploring questions of ethnopharmacology and the antimicrobial efficacy of ingredients from historical and traditional medical sources.
