The University invites applications for the above post, which is to work on a project on the dog in science and medicine in the twentieth century, focusing particularly on genetics and physiology.
We seek applications to work on a Wellcome Trust funded project on the dog in science and medicine in the twentieth century, focusing particularly on genetics and physiology. You will join a group whose member are also working on the dog in veterinary medicine and the behavioural sciences, and on changing practices of dog breeding, feeding, training and health care. This post would suit scholars with a background in the history of biology, the history of the biomedical science, or the history of medicine.
The key responsibilities would be to engage in independent research closely related to the aims of the grant, develop publications closely related to the aims of the grant including articles in peer reviewed journals and work towards an academic monograph. Present papers at academic conferences and be actively engaged in other activities relevant to the project including the organisation and realisation of workshops and conferences. Be an active team-member and set positive examples by showing a commitment to achieving results, encouraging and supporting members of the team and raising suggestions for continuous improvement.

The newly-created Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH) was implemented on 1 August 2016, and this post will be based within the Division of Medical Education in the School of Medical Sciences.
