Histoire de la médecine personnalisée

Individualized medicine in historical perspective: from antiquity to the genome age

An international conference at Johns Hopkins University, hosted by the Department of the History of Medicine

Date, time: May 15-16, 2014, 9:00–5:00.

Place: May 15 and morning of May 16: Charles Commons, 10 E. 33rd Street, Salon C. Located next to the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus, above the Barnes & Noble campus bookstore.

May 16, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm: West Lecture Hall, Preclinical Teaching Building, 725 N. Wolfe St., Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

"Individualized" or "personalized" approaches are all the rage in medicine today— including in the Johns Hopkins medical curriculum. This conference will take the long view on this important topic, presenting new evidence for individualized approaches, questioning claims for personalized medicine, and examining the tension between individualized and "one-size-fits-all" therapies. It will feature scholars from around the world, with ample time for discussion and integration of themes, and a final round table.

Registration is free. Coffee, light breakfast, and box lunch are provided.
