Ecrire l'histoire du Collège royal


Job Opportunity: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is looking for a part-time historian position for the fall of 2012. The position includes two separate projects which are outlined below. We anticipate this to be approximately 5 -7 days a month; for approximately a year.  We prefer that the person is in the Ottawa area.
Summary of work and qualifications expected:
1) Research and write recent Royal College history
The Royal College is looking to capture and create its recent history, from 2004 to present into a summary-type document in preparation for its Centennial Year Book in 2029. The research will be conducted at the Royal College headquarters in its Corporate Archives collection.
2) Update past president biographies
The Royal College is looking to research and create five past president biographies, as well to verify, update/edit 36 previously written past president bios, to ensure all Royal College bios are available in a similar “voice”. This research will be conducted in the Royal College archives as well as other libraries and archives to gather and/or verify previously collected information.
Qualifications
• 8–10 years research experience, preferably in a medical archive environment
• Excellent writing/editing skills
• Professional educational background in History/Library/Archive/ or relevant discipline or combination
• 8-10 years experience writing and editing historical material
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to work effectively and independently
• Passionate about medical history
