Postdoc in the History of Childhood (Milà i Fontanals Institution-CSIC, Barcelona)

We are offering a 2.5 years Postdoctoral research position within the History of Science Group at the Milà i Fontanals Institution for Research in Humanities, Spanish National Research Council (IMF-CSIC) in Barcelona.

The selected candidate will develop his/her own research within a project about the history of talented and gifted children in Europe (19th-20th centuries), and contribute to the organization of research and knowledge transfer activities.

The research proposal should deal with one or several of the following topics in historical perspective (related matters to these topics that the candidate may find relevant will also be accepted):

- Scientific studies on giftedness and talent in children

- The childrearing of gifted and talented children

- Child prodigies and their cultural productions

Expected starting date: 1 September 2022



Requirements:

- PhD in History, History of Science, Cultural History, Art History or other relevant fields for the project (the PhD needs to be awarded before the start of the appointment)

- Excellent track-record and good command of English

- Willingness to collaborate in the organization of research and knowledge transfer activities



What we offer:

- A welcoming working environment and a shared office

- A limited budget for research activities

- The position does not include teaching duties

- Gross yearly salary: 35,200 €
