Who is this for?
Transition Funding Awards, are open to strong fellowship candidates within the broad area of biomedical research, to help them make the necessary but often challenging transition from being a PhD researcher or postdoc to a fully independent researcher. Previous rounds have supported researchers from Biological Sciences, Arts and Medicine & Health.

What does the funding cover?
The Transition Funding Awards will cover both salary costs and a contribution towards research costs. This will be reviewed on a case by case basis, but it envisaged that each award will be for six to 12 months. In addition to financial support, recipients will also receive mentoring throughout the award. This will include help with the identification of suitable external fellowship opportunities and subsequent preparation of applications. These external fellowship applications will be subjected to rigorous internal peer review prior to submission with extensive feedback on funding applications. Interview coaching will help to prepare awardees for that critical final stage in the fellowship application process.
