Call for Papers
Reproductive History Graduate Symposium, University of Wisconsin-Madison, April 29, 2022
The organizers of this symposium invite scholars from across the Midwest to join us in deepening our collective understanding of local and global histories of reproduction. With the goal of spotlighting and workshopping the scholarship of graduate students, we seek to connect with others working in the field of reproductive history and engage in interdisciplinary and transnational conversations that engage with subthemes such as:
We plan to host the symposium in person but may have to transition to an online modality at a later date in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

- Eugenics, Empire, and Population Control
- Failed and Assisted Reproduction
- Families, Kinship, and Adoption
- Fetuses, Infants, and Childhood
- Gender and Biomedical Technologies
- “Othered” Bodies: Race, Transness, and Disability
- Sexuality and Queer Intimacies
We plan to host the symposium in person but may have to transition to an online modality at a later date in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Submission Details:
Interested graduate students should submit an abstract of no more than 250 words summarizing their proposed talk to uwreprohist@gmail.com. Applicants should address how their work speaks to the theme of reproductive history. They should be sure to include the following in the header of their submission:
Applicants interested in applying as a panel should submit an abstract of no more than 750 words summarizing each panelist’s proposed topic as well as why these topics would work well together as a panel. Panels will include three presentations.
No late submissions will be accepted.
