AMS Healthcare funding programs
Call for applications
AMS Healthcare sponsors several funding programs in the history of medicine and/or healthcare – a discipline broadly defined as the study, analysis, and interpretation of past practices, philosophies, and/or epistemologies related to human health, healthcare, and/or disease or the education of health professionals. The following funding programs have been launched:
Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Postdoctoral Fellowship program supports full-time post-doctoral studies of emerging scholars as they begin or complete projects focused on the history of medicine and/or healthcare. Each award provides a one-year stipend of up to $45,000 and a $2,500 research and travel allowance.

Project Grant
The Project Grant program supports small-budget proposals for research into the history of medicine and allied disciplines such as science and technology studies, sociology, anthropology, and classics. Projects must strive to advance the history of health, healthcare and disease, or the education of health professionals.

Doctoral Completion Award
This program provides support to doctoral students who are working full-time to complete their dissertation on a topic related to the history of medicine and/or healthcare in the humanities or social sciences. One-year stipends of up to $25,000 are available through this program.
