A Celebration of Herbal Medicine History: researching botanical knowledge and discovery

Call for Postgraduate Student Poster Proposals

The Herbal History Research Network (HHRN) will be 10 years old in 2019 and to mark this important milestone, is holding a seminar, A Celebration of Herbal Medicine History: researching botanical knowledge and discovery, at the Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution, England on 30 October 2019. This will be an opportunity to reflect on past developments and discuss further challenges in developing quality herbal history research. We invite poster proposal submissions from postgraduate students studying any aspect of herbal history research from the role of herb growers and gardeners to tradtiional uses of herbal medicines through to the methodology and issues around the identifictaion of medicinal plants. Student authors will be able to discuss their research with delegates and judges over lunch and there will be a prize awarded for the best poster. We do ask that you seek approval from your tutor/supervisior to submit a poster abstract. 

Student submissions should include a 250 word abstract, a title of proposed poster, name and address of academic institution, three keywords and a one paragraph resume with contact information. All submissions and enquiries to be sent to Dr Frances Watkins at f.watkins596@gmail.com The poster abstracts will be reviewed by the HHRN commitee. Succesful applicants will be notified by email and required to provide a digital version of their poster prior to the event as well as displaying a physical poster at the seminar.

Important Dates

Submission deadline is 5pm Friday 13 September 2019
Notification of successful poster proposal on Friday 27 September 2019
Digital version of poster by Wednesday 23 October 2019
Physical poster displayed at seminar on Wednesday 30 October 2019
