The Great Silk Road & Medicine

44th Congress  of the International Society for the History of Medicine (ISHM) 

Tbilisi, Georgia, September 10-14, 2014

The Institute for the Preservation of Medical Traditions is organizing a panel on the circulation of materia medica, remedies and therapeutics, theories and methods, between the East and the West, China, India and the Mediterranean. Original papers are invited on any aspect of this phenomenon from the most ancient identifiable traces of the Silk Road to the 15th/16th century, on both knowledge and practice, from the East to the West and conversely, including the many intermediaries along the Road. Multidisciplinary approaches are encouraged.
