THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO seeks applications for an Assistant Professorship in the History of Medicine. The position is probationary leading to a tenure decision. The anticipated start date of the appointment is August 2013.
Minimum Requirements: (1)PhD in History, History of Science, or History of Medicine with expected completion by August 2013; (2)ability to teach an undergraduate survey in the candidate’s field of expertise; (3)ability to teach upper-division courses and graduate seminars in the History of Medicine; (4)ability to mentor undergraduates, and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels; (5)an active research agenda focused on the history of medicine or the history of health sciences.
Preferred Qualifications: (1) Teaching experience at college level; (2) Record of publication or potential to publish in History of Medicine (3) Potential to participate in the University of New Mexico B.A./M.D. Program, and (4) Potential to offer history courses to students at the UNM Health Sciences Center.
