Please email us at scinstcom@gmail.com if you experience any problems with submitting your abstract using the online form.

The theme of the XLIV Scientific Instrument Symposium is ‘Peoples, Places, Exchanges, and Circulation’ in accordance with the theme of the International Congress of History of Science and Technology. See also the website of the 27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology at https://www.ichst2025.org/

At SIC 2025, we invite you to reflect on these topics and other issues related to scientific instrument studies. As is customary at SIC symposia, we welcome all proposals for papers on any topic dealing with the history of scientific instruments. We particularly encourage scholars from diverse disciplinary and geographical backgrounds to explore and enrich the study of scientific instruments.

The Congress will be held as a hybrid in-person and online event at the University of Otago’s Dunedin campus on 29 June - 5 July 2025. Please indicate in the online form whether you will participate online or in person. The rates for online and in-person registration can be found here:

https://www.ichst2025.org/registration

Delegates registered for virtual participation will be able to both present and attend online. Oral presentations will be 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes discussion. Deadline for the submission of abstracts is 1 November 2024. Presenters will be informed in January 2025 whether their proposal has been accepted.

Registration to attend the Congress is open at https://www.ichst2025.org/registration. Information around those needing invitation letters to support a visa application can be found at https://www.ichst2025.org/travel-visa-information. The Congress organizers will not be issuing any invitation letters until after abstracts within Symposia and stand-alone papers have been reviewed and authors notified of acceptance in January 2025.

In case of questions about the XLIV SIC Symposium, please email us at scinstcom@gmail.com

We look forward to receiving your abstracts in due course!

Best wishes, Louise Devoy, Tacye Phillipson and Roland Wittje (SIC Board)
