Definite Term Lecturer, Department of History
Call for applications
The Department of History in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a
Definite Term Lecturer position in the History of North America, with a start date of July 1, 2022 for a three-year term. The position involves teaching in the fall, winter, and spring terms (80% of the appointment, including one term in six as a non-teaching term) and various service and administrative responsibilities (20% of the appointment). While the successful candidate will be required to teach in a variety of areas that support the curriculum, applicants with a specialization in the history of health, medicine, public history, gender, and/or race are particularly encouraged to apply.
The Department of History (https://uwaterloo.ca/history/) is a research-intensive department with broad
and interdisciplinary areas of research and teaching. At the graduate level, we offer an MA and a PhD program as part of the Tri-University partnership. We are also a partner in the Global Governance programs at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Our undergraduate program offers a wide array of course options and a co-operative program stream. We are also home to a number of Distinguished Teachers.

Applicants must have a PhD in History or an equivalent discipline, or be able to demonstrate that they can meet the requirements for the PhD by July 1, 2022. Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses on aspects of the history of North America, experience liaising with university faculty and staff, and familiarity with diverse groups of students will be assets.
The salary range for this position at the rank of Lecturer is $70,000 to $100,000. The closing date for
